The patients (2 men 6 women ages 27-68 years) presented with vague gastrointestinal symptoms with lesions involving stomach, duodenum, small intestine, and colon. At endoscopy, the lesions exhibited superficial ulceration, edema, and hemorrhage. Biopsies revealed a mucosal infiltrate of atypical cells with an NK-cell phenotype (CD56 +/TIA-1 +/Granzyme B +/cCD3 +), which displaced but did not invade the glandular epithelium. Epstein-Barr virus–encoded RNA in situ hybridization was negative, and T-cell receptor-γ gene rearrangement showed no evidence of a clonal process. Based on an original diagnosis of lymphoma, 3 patients received aggressive chemotherapy followed by autologous bone marrow transplantation in 2. Five patients were followed without treatment. However, no patient developed progressive disease or died of lymphoma (median follow-up, 30 months). Repeat endoscopies in 6 of 8 patients showed persistence or recurrence of superficial gastrointestinal lesions. This unique entity mimics intestinal and NK-/T-cell lymphomas on endoscopic biopsies and can result in erroneous diagnosis, leading to aggressive chemotherapy. We propose the term “NK-cell enteropathy” for this syndrome of as yet unknown etiology.Įxtranodal natural killer (NK)-/T-cell lymphomas are postulated to originate from activated NK cells, although some cases have been shown to have a true T-cell derivation. “Inside these majestic walls we will illuminate the human experience through the arts, reaching our audiences in ways that are entertaining, amusing and thought-provoking.1 Distinctive morphologic features of extranodal NK-/T-cell lymphoma are an angiocentric and angiodestructive growth pattern with frequent necrosis and apoptosis. “This theater is an extraordinary place,” added Steve Wilson, executive artistic director of the Mizel Arts and Culture Center. Loup Jewish Community Center campus also has an elevator, ample seating and accommodations for those in wheelchairs or with mobility issues. “It’s like stepping back in time,” observed Michael Rudnick, who helped raise additional funds for the theater’s construction. The opulent lobby has an antique ticket window, discovered on a buying trip to New York a sparkling crystal chandelier lush patterned carpeting murals by Michael Kane and walls paneled with wood reclaimed from a bank that was built in the early1900s. Let her explain: “I wanted this to be a place where people from all walks of life, especially those who may be struggling, can escape from their problems - if only for a short time - and step into a different world, one where they will be entertained, refreshed and re-energized. Think of it this way: the Grammy-winning vocal group’s name describes just what Wolf had in mind for the venue that bears her name - that all who enter feel like they’ve been transported to Broadway to be entertained in one of the grand theaters in the heart of Manhattan. However, knowing Elaine as we do, it’s more likely to have been a deliberate choice. It could be quite the coincidence that Manhattan Transfer was picked for the opening concert at the Elaine Wolf Theatre. Digital Replica Edition Home Page Close Menu
